In 1968 McCarran officially became McCarran International Airport; it now serves over forty million passengers a year. Located one mile south of the Las Vegas strip, the McCarran International Airport consists of two separate terminal complexes offering 110 aircraft boarding gates each with its own parking garage, ticketing/check-in area, baggage claim, and shopping and dining options. A number of necessary services are provided at the facilities including: restaurants, snack bars, shops, gift stores, banking services, ATMs, a post office, restrooms, medical facilities and kids play area. It offers an array of recreation and entertainment options such as a fitness center, gaming area, massage services, art gallery and aviation museum. Handicapped travelers are provided with telephones for the hearing impaired, wheelchairs, handicap accessible restrooms and visual paging. Travelers who are in need of any assistance can check with the World Airport Guide, a useful travel portal that provides travelers with updated travel services such as hotel bookings, weather forecasts, shopping and dining options, or currency converter services.
